Comparing TQM and Six Sigma Manufacturing Methods
Total Quality Management, or TQM, was conceived in the middle of the twentieth century and mostly ignored in the United States. Japanese manufacturing picked up on this concept and other related methods and within a few decades, caught the United States off guard with the quality of their manufactured goods. This article looks at the history of TQM, lean methods, and Six Sigma as manufacturing methods.
