Addressable TV Finally Coming Into View, Forrester's Glantz
Targeted TV ads are gaining speed thanks to efforts by media agencies like Starcom and Group M, as well as Microsoft's XBox, says Forrester analyst Michael Glantz in an exclusive interview with Beet.TV.Addressable TV has been held out as a carrot for the TV ad buying market for many years, but now Glantz tells us he is optimistic about partnerships such as the ones struck between Starcom and DirecTV and between Group M and Dish. Questions remain though about how to apportion money from big TV buys to more direct-response style TV campaigns, he adds. He's also keeping an eye on efforts from Microsoft XBox in targeted ads. XBox offers marketers demographic, behavior and location targeting.

He explained the first step as, "Defining your reach is potentially the most important thing that you need to do on every video project. It doesn't matter if you're internal to a company or you work on your clients' -- you take on a new client every new project, whatever it is -- every client has a different objective, every stakeholder has a different objective."

Watch Glasses-Free 3D on YouTube
Remember those Magic Eye posters from the '90s? Now there's a way to use the "cross-eyed" method to watch glasses-free 3D videos on YouTube. Says Slate about the method, "The trick can approach a hallucinatory experience, giving the sense of a diorama seen through a wormhole. It's not an 'immersive' experience, in the way of giant-screen IMAX, but it’s an intensely personal and absorbing one, with the world around you fuzzing away into the background."
Get the full details on how to do it here. They recommend giving it a go with these two OK Go videos: "White Knuckles" and "All Is Not Lost."
